Grab your picnic basket and cooler and head for the Broad River Greenway. There are enough activities to keep the entire family busy having fun.

Some of the activities available are:

The moderate current makes canoeing and tubing down the river a fun-filled and challenging adventure.

Fish for bass, blue gill and catfish or just sit and watch the river go by from the fishing pier and observation deck.

Break out the fried chicken, ham biscuits and sweet tea for some good eating at the picnic shelter near the parking lot or at a comfortable spot anywhere on the Greenway.

There are many miles of rough trails on both sides of the river for nature walks. There are enough interesting trees, flowers, small animals and views of the river to stimulate the interest of any nature lover. Signs identify some of the more interesting plants and trees. There is also a 2,000 foot paved trail for bikes and skates with educational signs along the way. Pets on leashes are always welcome.

Bicycle riding is another favored activity, with good places to ride and good places to stop and admire the scenery. Safety gear is required.

Kids will love the playground

Saddle up old paint, round up some friends, and go horseback riding. There are trails for both long and short rides. Horse back riding on designated trails only to prevent damage to the handicap accessible trail.

Public tours for the cabin are available most Sunday afternoons from 2 PM-4 PM April- Sept. Open to school groups through out the year by appointment.

All activities are free, except some water activities, and open to the Public. For water activities, always wear shoes, bring sunscreen and prepare to get wet.

The historic Phifer Cabin will be open Sunday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m.

THE BROAD RIVER GREENWAY IS LOCATED ABOUT 3.3 MILES SOUTH OF BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.
ON HIGHWAY 150. THE PARKING LOT IS LOCATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE 150 BRIDGE.
